Sculpting these little faces and topping them with colorful hats has been a fun exercise bringing all of my favorite aspects of clay together. With their hats I'm exploring texture and the feeling of voulme in fabric, as well as colors and layering with assorted materials. I enjoy the experience of working with a range of clay bodies and feeling what each requires from me. I love being able to work on tiny details like dimples and eyelids and find the expression on the face that forms. I felt like giving them names conveyed nothing about their personality, so instead of names I've given them rising/sun/moon placements ~
